Scratchy Brown is a art collective based in Chatham, Kent.

It was set up in August 2013 by two artists, Darren Sall and Michael Turley, bringing together varying interests and skill sets.

The name 'Scratchy Brown' came about from the style of art that influences both Darren and Michael. It was the only way that best described the style. "Kind of scratchy and brown"

The name was soon to be incarnated, becoming characterised as Scratchy Brown - The rogue, hat wearing, trainer donning tortoise, constantly observing and commenting on the world with his philosphical foul mouthed remarks.

Philosophy became a central theme of the Scratchy Brown art collective, along with an intrigue into curiosity, anthropology, social satire and  wit.

Through their eclectic collection of knowledge and skills, creations are made from a concoction of these humouring and inspiring thoughts and discussions.

They encourage lighthearted and engaging dialogue around meaningful topics such as originality, resourcefulness, behavioural/social condtradictions and reality.

They work in mediums most suited to the topic being discussed which can range from pyrography and painting to sculpture and 3D work through to Film and even millinery.
